This issue examined the cultural and political fallout from the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision, with Jonathan V. Last's cover story warning of intolerance toward dissent on the issue. The magazine also assessed the state of ISIS one year after its major territorial gains in Iraq and Syria, analyzed the 2016 Republican primary field including candidate Carly Fiorina, and explored how Republican candidates could appeal to African American voters in contrast to Hillary Clinton's approach. The issue reflected conservative concerns about religious liberty, national security, and political strategy in the summer of 2015.
