President Obama has received a lot of well-deserved criticism for his recent remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast. After condemning terrorists who “professed to stand up for Islam,” he told the largely Christian audience:
The Western media have a nasty habit of whitewashing Russia’s Soviet past. During the Winter Olympics in Sochi, many American journalists glorified the U.S.S.R’s Communist legacy while downplaying or ignoring the horrors that defined it.
One of the most sinister characters on TV appears in AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead and is known as the Governor. Initially presented as a selfless leader, the Governor is soon exposed as a deranged tyrant who demands absolute loyalty from everyone around him and worships death to the point of…
It has been a decade since U.S. armed forces—with the United Kingdom and the Afghan Northern Alliance—launched what has become America’s longest war, Operation Enduring Freedom, in Afghanistan. And, in addition to recognizing the heroism of those who work to keep America safe, it is worth praising…

THE RIGHT TO VOTE is a quintessential American value, a solemn trust. For decades the Democratic party led the movement to expand voting rights. Democrats championed the 1965 Voting Rights Act (and its renewal four times). More recently, Democrats have spearheaded efforts to mobilize young people…
REAGANAUTS FOUND THEMSELVES IN MOURNING again last week as another of the Gipper's loyal servants unexpectedly passed away. Hard on the heels of the deaths of Caspar Weinberger and Lyn Nofziger came the sad news that Robert B. Carleson, architect of Reagan's welfare reform, had succumbed to…
I was a senior in high school when Barry Goldwater ran for president. I was active in his campaign in my hometown, Newport, Ky., a blue-collar community with a strong union presence.
RECALL AN ARRESTING IMAGE watched by all the world: that young Chinese student standing alone against a column of tanks in Beijing. As the lead tank attempted to go around him, the fearless young man dodged to the side to head it off. The standoff, which seemed to last forever, was perhaps the most…
