In 1878, William Gladstone described the U.S. Constitution as “the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.” Gladstone was right.
Edwin Meese III is a conservative legal scholar and policy leader who served as the 75th Attorney General of the United States under President Ronald Reagan from 1985 to 1988. A longtime fellow at the Heritage Foundation, he is widely recognized as a prominent advocate for originalist constitutional interpretation. He contributed to The Weekly Standard on matters of constitutional significance.
