David Bar-Illan was an Israeli journalist, pianist, and political figure who served as director of communications and policy planning in the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He wrote commentary on Israeli politics and Middle Eastern affairs for The Weekly Standard in 1996, analyzing Palestinian leadership and Israeli electoral realism. Bar-Illan was also editor of the Jerusalem Post before entering government service.
