Energy-saving light bulbs-you know, those squiggly-looking things that say "Earth Friendly" and "Lasts 13 Times Longer" and "Uses 75% Less Energy" on their packages-don't actually give off very much light, as anyone who is forced to use them because they cannot find incandescent bulbs at Safeway any more will tell you. (Halogen bulbs? Fuhgeddaboutit!) Now even the European Commission, which starting tomorrow will be imposing them upon all of Europe, is admitting as much. No worries, though, global-warmingers: the EC will still have Europeans completely dim by September 2012.
