A new poll from Winthrop University that shows Rick Perry leading Mitt Romney by just over 3 percentage points among Republican and Republican-leaning likely voters in South Carolina. Just a few weeks ago, Public Policy Polling, showed Perry with a 20-point lead overRomney. As Alexander Burns notes, it's much more likely that one or both of the pollsters got something wrong than for a 20-point shift to have occurred in South Carolina during such a short period of time. The RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Perry with a 12 point lead in South Carolina.
