Rep. Mark Souder, R-Ind., will be history by the end of the week. The Fort Wayne News-Sentinel is already dropping hints that Republican state Sen. Marlin Stutzman, the main tea party candidate who lost the GOP Senate nomination to Dan Coats earlier this month, could be the man to keep the seat in GOP hands. Souder had just won his primary on May 4, and so local party leaders must choose a new nominee within the next month.
Seems like a smart move for Stutzman, especially if he has his eye on Dick Lugar's Senate seat, which opens up in 2012.
