Is it just me, or is Romney taking his cues from the wrong party? The Times reports:
'We're going to make sure this state gets on the move again,' Mr. Romney said. 'I care about Michigan. For me, it's personal. It's personal for me because it's where I was born and raised.' Earlier in the day, after hearing from a voter who recalled his father, Mr. Romney choked up momentarily, according to a pool reporter who was present. 'He was a great man, and I miss him dearly,' Mr. Romney said.
As JVL points out here, this follows Romney's adoption of Obama's "change" message. UPDATE, 9:26 p.m.: Stephen F. Hayes writes:
You might note in your Romney post on crying that he's done it twice before. (I blogged about it but it's old enough that it's not on the page anymore.) So it really could be the case that Hillary is seeing that it worked for romney and just used it to greater effect.
Good point! I remember Romney tearing up at the mention of his dad during his December appearance on Meet the Press. So it's probably incorrect to suggest that he's copying Clinton tactics. Nonetheless, it makes for a good punchline!
