According to the latest New York Times / CBS News poll, 59 percent of respondents say that it is still too early to make up their minds and choose for whom they will vote in the Republican primary. Forty percent say their minds are made up. Now consider these trend-charts. If we project the upward trendlines into the future, we will have a Huckabee-Romney race in Iowa and South Carolina; a Romney-Giuliani-McCain-Huckabee race in New Hampshire; a Giuliani-Romney race in Michigan; and a Romney-Giuliani race in Florida. Thing is, these projections are all based on trends in which close to two-thirds of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents haven't made up their minds. Something tells me we will see drastic, late movement in the polls beginning in the week between Christmas and New Year's.
