Barack Obama told Steve Kroft this yesterday: "[O]ne of the reasons that I love Joe [Biden] and one of the reasons I think he's gonna be such an effective vice president is he's blunt when he's right, and he's blunt when he's wrong. And that means that I can trust his counsel." Really? Since when did a person's boorishness become a test of whether or not one can trust his counsel? Shouldn't the relative metric be how many times that person's counsel has proven to be wise and judicious? Oh, wait. By that standard, Biden isn't that impressive.
