Senator Mark Udall of Colorado says Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki should resign amid reports of misconduct in VA hospitals. Udall, a Democrat facing reelection, made the announcement on Twitter:
In light of IG report & systemic issues at @DeptVetAffairs, Sec. Shinseki must step down: http://t.co/7zfNxqQMZa

The investigator general's report on the VA misconduct found hospital executives were concealing delays in treatment for veterans--delays which averaged 115 days--in order to earn better perfomance reviews and higher bonuses.
Udall is the first Democrat and third senator to call for Shinseki's resignation.
