A top New Hampshire Democrat warned Hillary Clinton fans that they "can’t be like a group of my gay friends at a Lady Gaga concert." The comments, which were made in front of Clinton and caused the candidate to laugh, were made by New Hampshire Democratic party chairman Ray Buckley.
"The trip to the New Hampshire Democratic Party offices found Clinton addressing a roomful of state lawmakers and party staffers. State Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley offered ample praise for Clinton and her husband, whom he described as faithful supporters of the state’s Democrats through the years. At one point, Buckley nodded to Clinton’s celebrity status – assuring the room that Clinton would have time to meet everyone, and cautioned the lawmakers against rushing too vigorously to greet the candidate," the Concord Monitor reports.
“You can’t be like a group of my gay friends at a Lady Gaga concert,” Buckley said, prompting laughs from the room and from Clinton herself. “She may be your Lady Gaga, but she will come to you.” Clinton said she welcomed the comparison to the pop star. She spent about 15 minutes addressing the lawmakers – outlining broad goals of her campaign platform, praising the work of President Obama and brushing off criticism from her Republican political opponents. “Those of you who I have worked with and campaigned with, you know I never give up,” Clinton said. “I won’t quit on you.”
