Harry Reid met with the Democratic caucus last night but, according to the Times, he wasn't exactly forthcoming when it came to revealing the details of the Gang of Ten's compromise health bill. Reid discussed "general concepts," Ben Nelson of Nebraska told the paper, "but nothing very specific at all." Everyone is sitting and waiting, twiddling their thumbs as the CBO scores the legislation. At the moment, then, Reid still does not have 60 votes. Here are four reasons for senators to oppose Reid: (1) Hospitals do not like the Medicare buy-in. (2) Nor does the Washington Post editorial board. (3) Obama's job approval is at 50 percent in the Times / CBS poll; support for Obama on health care is at 42 percent. (4) Charles Krauthammer doesn't like this "act of desperation," either.
