Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, sent the following email to department employees on Thursday morning:

Subject: An Important Message From Secretary Sebelius   Dear HHS employees,   As most of you already know, earlier this morning the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act.     I’m so proud of the incredible work our department has done over the last two years to begin to implement the law.  Thanks in large part to you, millions of hard-working families across the country are now getting the security of affordable health coverage and care they deserve.  And I know that effort will continue as we move forward in implementing the benefits of the health care law for the American people.     The President will make some remarks addressing the decision shortly.  But in the meantime, I wanted to write to share the news and to say thank you on behalf of the American people.  They now have the security of knowing that they and their families will have affordable health care, and that they won’t go bankrupt trying to get the treatment they need.    Your work touches the lives of people you will never meet or know, but they and their families are grateful to you.   I am so proud to serve as your Secretary.   Sincerely,   Kathleen Sebelius
