Andrew Kohut at Pew has released a fascinating survey on public priorities. No surprise, the economy and jobs are numbers one and two, respectively. Number three is terrorism. Where does health care rank? Eighth. It trails behind Social Security, education, Medicare, and deficit reduction.
Up until recently, Democrats have been able to dismiss polls that show the public is uninterested and disapproving of massive changes to the health care system. Not after Scott Brown. And as much as liberal die-hards believe the only way to save Obama's presidency is to pass a bill that few people like at a time when the economy is the most important issue, I have a feeling the White House will look at Pew's numbers and revise the State of the Union accordingly.
