The National Right to Life Committee points out that Obama's budget would repeal the "Dornan Amendment", which prohibits taxpayer-funded abortions in the District of Columbia. Meanwhile, Center for Reproductive Rights is outraged that Obama ( breaking another campaign promise) isn't trying to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits funding of abortions for Medicaid recipients. Does this mean Obama has moderated on abortion a bit? Not necessarily. If Obama can get a public health-care plan to cover abortion for anyone, it doesn't make much sense to fight over the Hyde Amendment now. (p.s. The title is a reference to a Simpsons episode.
