Democratic Leadership Council founder Al From has this reaction (see top of page) to Joe Lieberman's endorsement of John McCain: "I am very saddened by Senator Lieberman's choice, and profoundly disagree with it. We need to elect a Democratic president in 2008." Hmm. Whenever you hear a Beltway type say that he is "saddened" at something, chances are he's been hit hard and doesn't know how to respond. That seems to be the case with From. It would help if From was able exactly to explain why he "profoundly" disagrees with Lieberman's decision to endorse McCain. "The guy isn't a Democrat" isn't what you'd call a substantive argument.
