Obama will be the first president since Grover Cleveland in 1885 to skip the dinner during his first year in office. As one friend said in an email, "For all the media did to get President Obama elected last year, showing up every day to help his candidacy, you would think the least he could do would be to drop by their annual self-celebrating dinner."
