A little-noticed Wall Street Journal story on Rudy Giuliani overseas fundraising in Kazakhstan can be found here. According to the story, the Almaty fundraiser was the third overseas event for the Giuliani campaign (there have been two previous events in Great Britain). You may be wondering why people are raising money for Hizzoner in Kazakhstan. Well, it so happens that Giuliani's law firm has offices there. Earlier this summer, when I interviewed the mayor for this story, I asked him whether he had seen Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Giuliani immediately burst into laughter and said he had seen it and thought it was very funny. Then he paused. "Very offensive," he said. "But very funny."
