You can find the New York Times's update on David Guthartz, "executive president" of the New York Ferrets Rights Advocacy / The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Ferrets, here. Guthartz, of course, is famous for a July 1999 exchange with Mayor Giuliani over the mayor's handling of ferret issues. Giuliani called Guthartz "deranged" because of his "excessive concern for weasels." No surprises here: According to the Times, Guthartz isn't supporting Giuliani's presidential bid. Actually, Guthartz doesn't appear to endorse any candidate in the interview. "I'm a catalyst" for those forces opposing Rudy, he said. "I'm cool with that." Somehow, though, I don't think the Giuliani campaign would mind if some of hizzoner's more controversial and confrontational debates with his radio-show interlocutors received more attention.
