With Moscow wielding its energy club on its neighbors, Ukraine, Georgia and now Belarus, there's been a growing awakening in Europe to the perils of being too dependent on the Kremlin for energy supplies. The latest is Germany. Radio Free Europe reports that Economy Minister Michael Glos welcomed "the agreement reached the previous night between Gazprom and Belarus on securing Russian gas supplies to Belarus," but, Glos continued, "'the conflict shows that Europe ought not to make itself too dependent on gas supplies from the East.'"
