House Speaker John Boehner has invited Ukraine president Petro Poroshenko to address a joint session of Congress. The speech is scheduled for September 18.
"House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced that he will invite President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine to address a joint meeting of Congress on Thursday, September 18," reads a press release from the speaker's office.
“Having President Poroshenko address Congress is another signal of our steadfast commitment to the aspirations of his people,” Boehner says in the release. “It will be an honor and a privilege to welcome him to the United States Capitol.”
