As noted this morning, Ben Nelson apparently sold out in exchange for the federal government's picking up the tab of new Medicaid patients in Nebraska added through Obamacare. For a piddling "$45 million over the first decade," Ben Nelson really is--as he proudly said Thursday--a " cheap date." If he had stood his ground, wouldn't he have been able to block abortion funding--just as Joe Lieberman was able to kill the Medicare buy-in? Nelson's compromise really is a sham; his supporters in Nebraska feel betrayed.
