David Axelrod has some advice for Hillary Clinton: stop doing what you're doing. Of course, Axelrod, a political professional, put it a little more gently today in an interview with CNN.

But his message remains clear: Clinton should meet with voters (something she's hardly doing), be honest (a constant Clintonian struggle), and throw caution to the wind (something her month-long presidential campaign clearly hasn't even bothered to try).

Watch Axelrod's comments here:

"I think she needs to be that connecting person" that she was late in the 2008 presidential campaign, Axelrod said. "She has to throw caution off, talk to voters directly about their lives, expose her own motivations. And if she does, she'll do very well in this race."

Axelrod was asked what advice he might give Clinton, and responded, "I think be authentic. Throw away caution. Be honest about what motivates you and be very attune to what's going on in the country. Forget about the ecochamber in Washington, go out there and listen to what's going on in people's lives and tell them what your ideas are to make this economy work better for people who live from paycheck-to-paycheck."
