Why? The ACLU and the editors at the New York Times don't like the terrorist interrogation deal. The Times is urging Senate Democrats to filibuster the bill and the ACLU is calling it a "charade of a compromise." It doesn't get any better than that if you're a Republican considering a run at the White House. Republicans can only hope that Senate liberals take the bait the New York Times has dangled in the front of them. And while the ACLU is dismayed with the deal, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas offered his support on Fox News:
What the American people can be assured of is they're as aggressive as necessary, but short of the prohibitions against torture, cruel, and inhumane treatment.
